Set within five acres of farmland on the outskirts of Hyderabad, Ananda is a contemporary courtyard house shaped by traditional Indian planning principles and a close relationship with nature. Occupying a one-acre parcel, the home draws inspiration from the Manduva houses of the Godavari region, reinterpreting their inward-looking spatial organisation through an open-to-sky courtyard, fluid living spaces, and interconnected indoor and outdoor areas. Basalt, Kota stone, Jaisalmer stone, and reclaimed wood establish a restrained material palette, while angled mullion walls filter harsh western sunlight. Existing trees, planted edges, and water bodies shape the landscape, allowing the home to evolve into a setting for everyday rituals, collected memories, and a quiet sense of happiness.
