About Project
Nestled inside the forested hills of Tamil Nadu, Ishavas was designed to rest within the contours, not above them. Every decision is guided by the land, the views, the climate, and the natural drama of the site. What emerges is a home that stands quietly, reads the forest as its context, and remains deeply connected to the earth that holds it. The architecture steps down with the terrain. The sunken living sits at an eye level with the pool. The terrace is protected under a Mangalore tiled roof that follows the natural slope of the hill. The landscape is humble, kept low, built from the very boulders found during excavation. The pool acts as a cooling body, blurring the boundary between indoor and outdoor. This is not a home that dominates its site. It is a home that understands where it stands, and accepts the forest as the real protagonist.
