About Project
The Nest House is located in a residential area of Bangalore with roads on two sides, north and west, making it a corner plot. A tree in the juncture of the corner led to the idea of a curvature to break the rigidity of the corner plot and create dynamism in the spaces inside. A striking feature of the house is a double height courtyard on the east, nestled well within the curvature. This space is wrapped in steel fabrication that creates an interesting play light and shadow throughout the day. The facade is a neat composition of cement finish, fabrication, and mud plaster. The use of local red soil to achieve this gives a reddish orange tinge adding warmth to the elevation. While the north side permits light and ventilation, the western side has minimum openings to protect the interiors from harsh western sunlight. Due to this, there are no fans or air conditioners installed on the first floor of the house. An open floor plan, monotone colour palette, mud plastered walls, and ample greenery inside are some key highlights of the project.
