Set along the banks of the Machhundri River in Dron Village, Rushitoya is a home shaped by the natural landscape of the western Gir region. Surrounded by greenery and abundant wildlife, the house draws from the architectural traditions of rural Kathiawar, reinterpreting familiar elements through a contemporary spatial language. The courtyard, verandahs, and shaded passages establish a strong connection between the indoors and outdoors, while the changing levels of the site lend depth to the overall layout. Towards the river, expansive openings bring the surrounding landscape into the everyday experience of the home. A restrained palette of Bela stone, brick, and terracotta further grounds the architecture in its regional context, allowing the house to complement its natural setting without overpowering it.
