About Project
Saradha Vihar takes traditional Kerala architecture and makes it fiercely relevant for modern urban life. The signature steep, sloping roof with its deep eaves is a beautiful heritage nod, yet its primary job is to aggressively block the harsh sun and monsoon downpours, keeping the interiors blessedly cool and shaded. This structure tells a story of survival, built on centuries of local climatic wisdom. The layout of the house is a masterclass in separating the calm from the chaos. Located on a busy street, the home cleverly uses a triple-entry system to manage the flow, ensuring the doctor-client's professional practice is neatly kept away from the private family sanctuary. Inside, the Idanazhi acts as a stunning, light-filled central artery, linking every part of the home with cultural grace. This flow is balanced by the calming presence of two courtyards—one open to the sky to draw in light and air, and another intimate, dry court that creates a peaceful inner core. The entire structure is cemented by the deep commitment to the past, including the incredible salvage and reuse of 90% of the original wood, proving sustainability can look spectacularly beautiful.
