About Project
On the outskirts of Ahmedabad, amidst a serene embrace of Peela Gulmohar trees, the Terra-Kota House brings the seamless blend of multi-generational living and modern design. Conceived by the architect couple Hitarth Majithiya and Netra Bafna, the space is a thoughtful conversation between communal and private areas, designed to hold a family's beautiful complexities. The home's striking cuboid form is a study in contrasts, where the exterior massing dialogues with the unique, diagonal axes of its interior spaces. The heart of the home is an informal, sunken living area that is a vibrant hub for the family and a gateway to the more private retreats. Materials like exposed concrete, Kota stone, and terrazzo lend a timeless quality, their textures telling a story of permanence and purpose. Every detail, from the climate-responsive design to the inherited furniture, is a thread woven into the fabric of this family’s narrative, making the Terra-Kota House a true living chronicle.
