About Project
Retreat Home, on the outskirts of Surat, is a thoughtfully designed getaway that balances contemporary design with the serenity of nature. Created for a diamond merchant and his extended family, the residence offers a pause from urban intensity, providing spaces for reflection, interaction, and relaxation. Rooted in tropical context and cultural sensibilities, the home seamlessly connects indoor and outdoor living. Organized around a 60-by-60-foot central courtyard, the two-tiered house links living and dining areas, informal family zones, sports facilities, and seven bedrooms on the upper floor. Ground-floor Rajula stone walls provide a visual base, while exposed brick and concrete bands on the first floor add rhythm. Pitched roofs, trellised verandahs, deep-set windows, and thoughtfully designed in-between spaces, such as corridors, terraces, and swings, enhance comfort and pause. Native landscaping with red Agra stone pathways completes the immersive environment. More than a holiday home, Retreat Home is a living sanctuary, fostering calm, connection, and timeless elegance as it evolves with time.
