About Project
A contemporary reinterpretation of traditional Tamil architecture, this 675 sq. ft. home is designed as a place of return—where memories of village life are woven into a modern way of living. Instead of recreating the past, the design draws from vernacular principles, using a generous courtyard, layered thresholds, and climate-responsive planning to foster openness, comfort, and togetherness. Built with locally sourced materials and shaped by regional craftsmanship, the home embraces simplicity over excess. Open, interconnected spaces encourage everyday interactions, while passive design strategies keep the interiors naturally cool in Tamil Nadu's harsh climate. More than a compact residence, it becomes a quiet expression of belonging—bridging tradition and contemporary life through architecture that is timeless, humble, and deeply rooted in place.
