Aadhya is a 6,000 sq.ft. residence in Neelankarai, Chennai, designed as a contemporary home rooted in tradition. Built for a young family, the house responds to its tight urban context through thoughtful planning that maximises natural light, ventilation, and privacy. Large openings along the north-east bring in soft daylight and coastal breeze, while the staircase and services buffer the harsh western sun. The architecture balances clean modern lines with a warm, familiar material palette. At the core of the home lies a double-height courtyard that seamlessly connects the living and dining areas, becoming a space for everyday interaction and pause. Accented with Chettinad columns, indoor greens, and handcrafted details, it reflects a deeper cultural narrative. With shaded overhangs, layered volumes, and a terrace garden with a home theatre, Aadhya creates a lived-in, climate-responsive environment that feels both intimate and open.
