About Project
Ganga Leheri Temple in Raichak is envisioned as a spiritual anchor for the local community, rising lightly above the changing tides of the Ganga delta. Its elevated form allows the river to flow beneath during high tide, transforming a practical response to flooding into a symbolic gesture of surrender to nature. Inspired by nearby brick kilns, the temple is built using locally sourced brick, celebrating regional craft through corbelling, load-bearing masonry, and minimal concrete. This material language lends warmth, durability, and an intimate sense of belonging, while keeping construction economical and sustainable. The open mandapa, connecting bridge, and front plaza invite social gatherings, festivals, and daily interaction, making the temple a living public space as much as a sacred one.
