About Project
Hiwali, a quiet hamlet of just 25 farming families tucked deep within the Satmala ranges near Nashik, holds an extraordinary story. Perched atop terraced fields and reached by a short uphill walk, its new school emerges from both terrain and spirit. Led by the inspiring teacher Keshav Gavit, whose students display remarkable abilities, the school is a world in itself.
Rooted in the idea of “to and through” spaces, the design flows with the land, weaving movement, learning, and play. Brick volumes, courtyards, and a crafted plinth create a porous, ever-evolving environment, one that belongs equally to children and the teacher, shaping education as a lived, shared experience.
