About Project
Mudiviyile House in Chennai is organized around a central bonsai courtyard. Spread across 10,000 sq. ft., the residence explores how intersecting planes, calibrated proportions, and tactile materiality can create a domestic environment that balances openness with privacy within a dense urban context. The house unfolds through layered thresholds that transition from formal to informal living, workspaces, and private family zones. From inward-looking planning strategies to climate-sensitive material choices such as rammed earth, limestone, and quarry-cut sandstone, the project reflects an integrated approach to modern multi-generational residence.
