About Project
Amidst the vast fields on the outskirts of Hyderabad stands a residence that redefines contemporary living through the timeless language of earth and light. Designed as an ode to slow living, this courtyard house is rooted in its context, both materially and emotionally. What makes it extraordinary is its materiality, bricks crafted from the soil of the very site, transforming the ground beneath into the foundation of a home that embodies permanence, belonging, and sanctuary.
At the heart of the residence lies a verdant courtyard, anchored by a brass idol of Lord Krishna, infusing the home with a spiritual core. Surrounding spaces seamlessly open into one another, with the living room, dining, and kitchen unfolding in a fluid sequence without partitions. Passive design strategies such as filler slab ceilings using clay pots and locally crafted bricks regulate thermal comfort while celebrating tactile craftsmanship. Each space within the home has been envisioned as both a pause point and a stage, from the intimate master bedroom with its private court to the son’s upper-level suite that extends into terraces and a bar for gatherings. Complementing the main residence is a home office, designed with the same material vocabulary and innovative roof construction using porotherm bricks to ensure lightness and efficiency.
