About Project
Step into Osari, a contemporary family home in Amravati that beautifully reinterprets the traditional Wada architecture of Maharashtra for modern living. Designed to accommodate three generations under one roof, this residence responds sensitively to the Amravati’s extreme climate—from scorching summers to cold winters—by thoughtfully blending traditional passive design strategies with modern construction techniques. At the heart of the home lies a central courtyard anchored by a Tulsi Vrundavan, evoking the spirit of communal living and cultural rituals. Surrounding this space are elements drawn directly from vernacular traditions—like the Osari (verandah), Devghar (worship area), Dalan (living space), and Swayampak Ghar (kitchen)—reimagined through a contemporary lens.
One of the home's standout features is its semi-circular vaulted roofs, made with 3-inch thick Ferro-Concrete or Ferrocement, which not only mitigate heat but also establish a unique architectural identity. Metal bridges and balconies lend a rustic yet modern character to the house, enabling dynamic visual and physical connections across levels. With exposed brickwork, lime plaster finishes for natural thermal comfort, and a layout designed for togetherness, this home is a timeless expression of culture, climate, and craftsmanship.
