About Project
The Otla House is a post-modern take on tropical Indian homes, inspired by the otla or the verandah that forms the periphery of the house. The climate responsive strategies were of utmost importance considering the house is located in the heart of the Bengaluru city. Hence the central courtyard acts as a vertical stack whereas the semi-covered verandah is a striking solar passive feature of the house. While the exterior is a gentle assemblage of browns and greys, the interior material palette is muted with whites and greys with a pop of bold colors enhancing the entire space.
