About Project
Ranthal House is conceived as an inward-facing residence that prioritizes light, privacy, and everyday living over outward expression. Rooted in the idea of a ranthal or lantern, the home reveals its character gradually, unfolding through courtyards, cut-outs, and layered volumes that bring daylight deep into the interior.
Anchored around a central double-height courtyard, the spatial planning balances openness with intimacy, allowing formal, informal, and private zones to coexist while remaining visually connected. Climate-responsive strategies such as shaded decks, wooden screens, and passive ventilation ensure comfort throughout the year, while material choices remain honest and grounded. Kota stone floors, exposed concrete surfaces, and warm wood accents create a tactile environment that feels both contemporary and rooted.
Rather than relying on overt luxury, the project finds richness in craft, proportion, and lived experience. Over time, as light shifts and life inhabits its spaces, Ranthal House continues to evolve, standing as a quiet, enduring response to context, climate, and culture.
