About Project
The Twin House in Kanpur is a brilliant architectural study in cohabitation, offering a dynamic blueprint for multi-generational Indian families. This expansive 16,500 sq. ft. structure appears as one unified house but functions internally as two entirely private units for two brothers and their families, expertly balancing deep-rooted kinship with the modern need for spatial autonomy. Engineered for durability, its exterior features a resilient skin of exposed beige brick and dark granite-granule paint—a necessary response to the site's challenging environment. The design is inherently climatic: 7.5-foot cantilevered balconies meticulously manage the sunlight, ensuring the voluminous interiors are consistently bright yet cool. Inside, spaces transition smoothly from the communal Family Hub to personalized retreats, including children's rooms customized in vibrant blue and yellow. This project successfully proves that functional design can deliver both independence and intimacy under one roof.
