Abin Design Studio

Abin Design Studio was founded in October 2005 by architect Abin Chaudhuri, a graduate of Jadavpur University, Kolkata (1998), who later pursued Industrial Design at Domus Academy in Milan and attended the Glenn Murcutt International Master Class in 2014. The studio works with the belief that architecture is not limited to functionality but is a metaphoric expression of human life, context, and experiences, a philosophy they describe as bringing a “Soul in the Shell.” In just a decade of practice, the studio’s projects gained international recognition, including selection by the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), New York, for the 2014 publication and traveling exhibition Uneven Growth: Tactical Urbanisms for Expanding Megacities. Their design approach treats architecture as a continuous search—drawing from social and cultural dynamics, spatial mechanics, and the interplay of light, shadow, and nature—while emphasizing learning and discovery as an evolving part of their practice.
