Tropical Architecture Bureau (TAB) was founded by Chief Architect Uvais Subu, an alumnus of Calicut University. Uvais gained early experience with Philip Werraratne Architects in Sri Lanka a practice associated with Geoffrey Bawa and Urbana in Bangladesh, both rooted in the principles of tropical architecture. These influences shaped his philosophy of integrating modernism with tropical themes, creating a seamless blend of tradition and innovation. Over the years, TAB has received several prestigious awards, reflecting its commitment to excellence in architectural practice. TAB is widely recognized for its “experiential architecture,” characterized by simplicity, contextual sensitivity, and a minimalist design ethos. Its experimental use of materials and empathetic approach to architecture are inspired by real-life conditions and the complex relationships that define each project. The firm aims to create spaces that encourage dialogue, interaction, and intuitive engagement.
